Death Penalty

Is is it ethical to give a child the death penalty if that child has killed an ungodly amount of people?

  1. Yes the child should get the death penalty if he has killed an UNGODLY number of people because if it was one person by accident then he should get off but more then one, hes just a serial killer and should be stopped. WE have no idea who can be next and how many people he will kill after. he should either be restrained or he should get the death penalty. Emotions aside, i know he is a child but what is wrong is wrong and they should be punished for that.

  2. Depending on the age of the child. Children under the age of 8 do not know the difference between right and wrong. Such a child should not get the death penalty, but should be locked up. Also, a child who can kill indicates that there is definitely something wrong mentally.

  3. First of all, we definitely need more information about the situation before we can judge it. Making ethical judgements about situations that we don't fully understand is never a good idea.

That being said, assuming that "ungodly" means more than 10 or so, unless there is an explanation as to how a child could have accomplished this singlehandedly, let alone by accident, some serious investigation needs to be done. If the child was capable of killing more than ten people, that alone demonstrates an understanding of the world that the child should be able to tell the difference between right and wrong. While I don't believe that the child should be executed, I think that serious punishment is necessary. If psychiatrist agree that the child is not insane, then prison for sure.

  4. No child should deserve the death penalty. If we focus our attention on the child killing people for doing "ungodly" things, you've made it clear that child is not in the position to kill those ungodly people because it is not his right. So why should it be any different that he be granted the death penalty by someone else as a stranger? Slightly hypocritical, don't you think? So I don't understand why you would grant a child the death penalty as a punishment, when you claim to say what he did was clearly wrong. And then have the same consequence put on that child. Just because it is part of the law/system, it doesn't make it good. Killing people is wrong regardless and it does not change for any particular situation.
