Do we have free will or are our lives pre-determined for us?
Are we living on this Earth with free will or are our lives planned out for us? If our lives are planned out, would it make sense that criminals are innocent since their actions have already been written?
I think that we have the ability to determine what we do with our life. I don’t think that all aspects to our lives we’re predetermined for us, but maybe just some minor details were. Apart from that I think that we are able to decide what we do with our lives. We are given choices for almost every situation that comes our way and we have the ability or right to choose which one we would rather face. Therefore I believe that we were put on this Earth will free with and we are able to choose what we do with our lives.
All of us start of with our parents making our decisions for us. However, slowly we are put in situations where we have limited choices to choose from. So, we make our choice and end up where that path leads us. Hence, I believe that all of us have free will in making choices for our own lives. Although at every situation in life we have limited paths to choose from, we eventually choose our own path. This means that a criminal is guilty because his choices were predetermined. However, he chose the path that lead him to being a criminal. In short, he had the ability to choose the right path for himself, yet he didn't. Thus, he is guilty.
We are born into the family and the circumstances surrounding us. Our history has to do with genetics as they made your parents the way they were and get passed on from generation to generation. The decisions that our parents made of when to have us or the situations that lead to our birth is a plan in itself before our birth. Being born into something and free will coincide with each other. This means that even if you are born into a family that is unstable their is a chance you can change the cycle by using your free will and knowledge to become something great. It is more unlikely though as the situation is not in favor of you but escapism is possible if you are able to realize who you want to become. Therefore it is free will and a plan that you were unaware of because what about those people who born into a wealthy and loving family but still decide to be a criminal.
We all have choice in our everyday lives, but does not mean our lives are not predetermined. I have heard many stories of people having others tell them about their future and those things actually occuring. People having the wierdest coincidences and deja vu. how can you explain that- no one can. I think there is a God and he does no what is coming in the future for us. Even though we feel like we have control there is a higher force having control over us- without us realizing it(feeling it with the senses. So our lives do already havea set date we die. but thats just my philosophy- it cannot be proven but i belive and thats all that matters, faith and love are the strongest things in this world. Criminals are guilty no matter the fact that their lives were predetermined. We all have control over choices we make and if a person commits suicide- does that mean he was predetermined to- yes, but he still choose to do it. I don't know if that makes sense but we technically have free will- but the outcome is always known by The Supreme Being.
I'm going to say this is a tricky question because it comes down to what people feel is free will. There are many different understandings and interpretations as to what free will is, so can there even be such a thing as free will without a general consensus? Because we all can't come to an agreement as to what true free will is then, I'm going to say no. BUT people feel because there are laws and rules to abide by, then there is no free will. Regardless of these rules I think then, people still have free will. It is just for some of the choices you make, there are consequences good and bad......
Free will can exist even if our lives are pre-determined. Destiny could select the destinations but how we get there and what we do when we arrive is up to us. ciminals should still be punished for their crimes, because they still made the choice to be evil.
I think our lives are what we make of it and we have no one to blame for the outcome of it but ourselves. If our lives were predetermined and we were not able to guide our selves (for the most part), independent of other people and things, then what is the point of living? How can we justify our existence if we cannot stop the inevitable from happening in our lives? Whether that's a scraped knee or a big raise. This is why I think we set the course for our own lives like the old saying “whether you think you can or you think you can’t your right!"
I do believe that to an extent are lives are planned out or predetermined. This is because I believe that we are given two paths in every situation in life and from those two paths we make the decision of the right or wrong choice. For example some one who is abused as a child may become abusive in the future because this is what they experienced as a child. However, it is their choice wheather or not they become this person, they can choose to be abusive because they want to or they are not because they know that it is wrong. The same goes for a criminal they choose the path they are on and it was the wrong one.
In my perspective I would say that our lives aren't predetermined for us. If our lives were predetermined it would be like story, and we aren't choosing our actions that we would like to do. Our lives would not be interesting and there is no need to predict the future or think about the future since we already know what will happen. It would also feel as we aren't living in reality since we have a sense that everything has been planned out. Someone that has behaved wrongfully is a criminal with their negative actions. Even though let's say that our lives is predetermine criminals are still considered as criminals. The reason for this is because that individual has choose to make the wrong decision and no one has forced them to behave in this unproductive way. Furthermore if the criminals actions were written out shouldn't they have a better understanding of the situation?
In my opinion I don't think that our lives are predetermined and I think every man/woman is responsible for his/her own destiny. Our lives can not be predetermined because then that would beg the question as to whether or not we have free will or not, and even if our lives were predetermined that would not justify a crime and it would only mean that some of us are less fortunate than others.
I do believe that we have free will, and that our lives are not predetermined. We have the ability to make our decisions and create our own life's path. If a person chooses to go down the wrong path, and make poor choices and judgements. That is their own decision and they have no one to blame but themselves for the consequences. However I do there believe there is a purpose!!
That is an interesting way to look at it. I have thought of that also. I think that there is a God who already know the outcome of everything, but has still given us free will to make our choices. It's tricky to think about it because, if God already knows what is going to happen, then where is the free will in that? I think God did give us free will, but it is in a way that we do not understand. As for coincidences and deja vu's, those are the kinds of things that make many people believe that there is a God. To some, it makes them believe that God is controlling everything that we do and what happens to us. Just like we don't understand most things, this is something that is impossible to fully understand and to find out the truth behind. It is about belief and hope.
I believe we are on this earth and living by free will. We choose what we want to do and where we want to go. Criminals have a choice of doing right and wrong, if they choose not to do it then great, but if they choose to comit a crime thats their own free will of choice.
