Assume you are an atheist.
If mankind does indeed have free will, where does it come from?
If an object has a force exerted on it, it will move. If an animal becomes hungry, it will seek food. If something hurts a person, they will avoid it. Everything in the universe has a cause, and an effect. Our actions are no different.
So, if we do have free will, where does it come from? What lets us break the cycle of cause and effect?
Nice question in my opinion there is a lot to think about, in atheists shoes i have no mid set to think about that, in my opinion this is all because of science. Most people who are atheists research religions and question their belief, if was to be an atheistic would not care about this stuff do what i want and life the life i want. I think some atheists are atheists because of free will. The thing you talk about the stuff when one is hurt and they avoid is because that is our senses not the religion that matters, that’s ones mentality and ones thinking if trey’s go near stuff that hurts them.
ReplyDeleteI think our opinions and our knowledge is what is able to give us free will. Today in our society the government is able to to put a stop to many things and they have much control over the things we can and can not do. Does it still mean we have free will? I believe it does because the government, people and religion set rules and standard for many people to follow, but making the decision to follow them or not is based on us. Of course there is a consequence for anyone who thinks the can disregard the rules and get away with it. But living in Canada and taking a look at America I believe that we do have free will in our country compared to other countries who aren't privileged enough to do thing out side of there homes because of there corrupted legal system in there homes and in there country. to answer the question of humans having free will I would have to Say yes we do depending on the state and environment any individual lives in.
ReplyDeleteNice question, in my opinion I agree with Jawa, people are atheist just for the free will. The government does set standards and the way society is today allows us to have this free will. What allows us to break this cylce is the life cylce we have, time has changed since way back when. People are more inclined now to have their own judgment and opinion. Thus, allowing us to have free will.
